Claire Lawrence - Conductor

Claire

Claire Lawrence studied Flute and Violin at Trinity College of Music and the Royal College of Music. She spent eight years as a freelance musician before joining the Central Band of the Royal Air Force as a Flautist, in 2004.

During her ten years in RAF music services Claire gained DipABRSM, and LRSM conducting diplomas, and became qualified to Director of Music level.

In September 2014, Claire transferred to the Army to study on the Musical Direction course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall in Twickenham. She completed her Masters degree, majoring in conducting and composition, in August 2015 and was posted to the Countess of Wessex's String Orchestra as Bandmaster. Claire was able to continue working with the Chiltern Concert Band alongside her posting.

In May 2018, Claire was appointed Bandmaster of the Band of the Coldstream Guards. We wish her the best of luck in her new post.
